Las Vegas Planet Hollywood Hotel Receives $140 Million Face Lift and Condos

Las Vegas Aladdin Hotel receives $140 million face lift with set completion for the end of 2006 for this 2,587 room Las Vegas resort.

The Westgate Resorts condo and Las Vegas timeshare rentals tower is located east on Harmon Avenue. The Las Vegas Planet Hollywood Towers, like the Strip façade, will be under a change of appearance.

Some construction inside of the casino will be removal of a lounge to create more casino space. There will also be a new 1,500 seat auditorium and a retail area. The Desert Passage shopping mall will have new signage and better pedestrian corridors.

Construction has been more complex and taken a little longer than expected because the property has stayed open while the crews continue with the remodel.

"But I think we have the team in place that is up to the task," Mecca said of Klai Juba Architects, Dougall Design, and M.J. Dean Construction Inc.

Starwood Hotels and Resorts Worldwide have been managing the property since Robert Earl took over the property. With the Aladdin in the high 90 percent range of occupancy it had the highest daily room rate of any Las Vegas Strip hotel last year.

New Planet Hollywood logo signage that identifies the brand's Planet Hollywood hotel is already in felt on the gaming tables. The Desert Passage mall, a collection of 140 stores, will also shed its Arabian theme. The Strip entrances will also be changing to match the Planet Hollywood standard.
